OPERATIONS OVERVIEW
TAG Oil holds interests in numerous oil and gas exploration permits in the Taranaki Basin.
In addition to development and step-out drilling in the Cheal area, TAG Oil's Taranaki Basin exploration program offers exposure to a number of high-graded prospects. The Company's portfolio provides good potential to establish additional production in the near term.
Shallow oil and gas potential: the known Miocene reservoirs (which have produced at Kaimiro, Ngatoro, Goldie, Surrey and Cheal) are developed across several of TAG Oil's permits. These shallow targets are less costly to drill and bring into profitable production in the event of discovery, than deep reservoirs.
Deep gas potential: the established Kapuni Sands reservoirs (the producing zones in the Maui, Kapuni, Mangahewa, McKee and Pohokura fields) are present at depth across onshore Taranaki. Drilling targets of substantial size have been identified in several of TAG Oil's permits and the Cardiff structure is now being prepared for testing, while other prospects are being considered for drilling.
Tariki Sands targets: the reservoir at the Kahili, Tariki and Ahuroa fields may also provide
targets within TAG Oil permits.
